Author Visit - Marcus Alexander :)

Today in school, Author Marcus Alexander came to visit. He then gave us an hour long introduction of his book series, The Keeper of the Realms.

During his presentation, he used a thunderous and loud voice, and explained how he traveled around the world, mostly in Asia, and explored cultural and traditional aspects of the place. He tried out lots of different food, and even he tried eating everyone's favourite animal - a dog! He also tried unique sports, throughout Thailand, Vietnam, and China. It involved lots of kicking and flexibility in it.

He soon got inspired by all these traditions, that he finally created his book series, Keeper of the Realms. Its protagonist, Charlie Keeper lives in a very unusual and unique home, set in the ever busy city of London.... and so her story begins!

Lots of my classmates were so excited about this, and Marcus Alexander sold his books - $100 HK for one book in the series, and $250 HK for the whole series! It was very exciting!!

Now, almost all of my year group, which is, 11 to 12, loves Alexander's books. His books are magical and filled with so many original ideas that he has collected worldwide, that itliterally explodes the reader's mind with imagination and creativity!

Therefore, I highly recommend that you read at least the first book of the Series - Crow's Revenge. For boys and girls, ages 11 and up, who are interested in Sci-Fi or Adventure genres will enjoy this book tremendously. So quickly borrow it from a public library near you, or go to a bookstore, because you have lots of places and realms to explore!

Naughtiest Girl in the School

Elizabeth Allen is a spoilt, selfish, and self centered girl....

Elizabeth is a very fortunate girl, who is home schooled by her governess. Her parents love her very much, and even spoil her!

When her father and mother think its time she has went to a proper school, Elizabeth loses her temper, and refuses to go. However, she must go to boarding school, but Elizabeth decides that she will not stay for long. And to do this, she will be the naughtiest girl in school.

However, Elizabeth soon learns that school is not as bad after all, and that sometimes she has to change her ways, and that being bad isn't as simple as it seems!

Written by the amazing and extraordinary author Enid Blyton, tells a tale about the unforgettable, spoilt Elizabeth Allen, becoming into a caring and fun loving girl!

Quote of the Day :)

Quote of the Day

Respect others for who they are. If you don't like someone else because of his or her looks, well, zip it. They didn't choose to be like that. But they can choose who they want to be in the inside. So they might be caring and gentle, not mean and cruel.

So stop criticizing, and start respecting.

Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard :)

Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard is like a jigsaw puzzle.....

Do you guys know about the upcoming book of Rick Riordan, Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard? Well, I think some of you know about this, but in the Percy Jackson series, Annabeth says that she has a cousin and uncle in Boston.... and Magnus Chase apparently lives in Boston.

So the main character of the next book could be about Annabeth's cousin. It also says that Annabeth's uncle and dad don't get along, which means if Annabeth ever appears in the story, she won't get a warm welcome....

So what do you think about this?

Quote of the Day :)

Dream your dreams.....

A Wrinkle in Time

It was a dark and stormy night...

This story begins with 3 heroes...

Thirtreen year old Meg Murry is a very "awkward", unpopular and defensive girl. She thinks she is a very unattractive girl, with mouse brown hair, braces and glasses, and thinks of herself a monster compared to her mother.

Her brother,Charles Wallace,a five year old child prodigy genius, is known by others as a foolish and mute boy, as he has never spoken until he was four. He is very knowledgeable, but also very vulnerable. At times, he can read his sister's mind.

Finally, Calvin O'Keefe, whose mother is a cranky and tired old woman, having too many children. Neglected by his own family, he happily enters the Murry family.

And together, they try to find Meg and Charles Wallace's father, who has disappeared without reason. With the help of Mrs. Who, Mrs. Which, and Mrs. Whatsit, they wrinkle through time, and travel to extraordinary places they have never been to, and encounter villains that they will fear, and friends they will never forget.

And it all began on a dark and stromy night.

Meg learns that you have to believe in yourself, and that sometimes she has to be patient with others. She also learns that a lot of people care about her, no matter how she looks like.5

The Bad Beginning (Series of Unfortunate Events)

It really is a bad beginning, isn't it?

To all readers, I am extremely sorry to say that this story has a very, very bad beginning. This tale tells the tragic lives of the Baudelaire siblings, and how they survived through the disasters that await them. In the start of this book, the children seem to have very happy and fortunate lives, but when their neighbour informs them about a very disastrous news, they find themselves under the crutches of a greedy, hideous and and revolting man with no heart for anyone.

Which changes their lives completely.

This story, reader, may be very unpleasant, very unhappy, and extremely unfortunate. These children do not deserve to be treated like this, for they have done nothing wrong! But, for whatever awaits them in their miserable lives, there is one thing for sure - they will stick together no matter what.

Recommended for ages 9 and up.
